BBC Monitoring provides news and information based on open source media – TV, radio, press, social media the public internet - from around the world. BBCM’s services are used by the BBC and a range of commercial companies and the UK Government. Our journalists track, translate and analyse local sources to make sense of what is happening on the ground, particularly in parts of the world where reliable news and information is in short supply. In 2016 Monitoring implemented an extensive restructure to transform priorities and ways of working, putting a focus on users, quality and continuous improvement. It has also made a significant investment in digital technology and the tools needed to keep pace with the modern media environment.
BBC Monitoring has nearly 230 staff and a budget of nearly £13m. It has staff in the UK and in 12 international offices.

As part of a small team of jihadist media monitors, you will produce engaging and insightful content in a variety of different formats, based on the monitoring of jihadist media sources online. You'll develop and maintain expert knowledge of jihadist use of the media and use your creativity to devise and deliver products which showcase that expertise. You'll enhance the team’s knowledge of key jihadist sources and online platforms, ensuring we are following reliable and up-to-date sources. You'll also contribute to breaking news as well as producing specialist analytical reports.
