Our customer is a subsidiary of a large multinational technology company that develops quality marine entertainment products for national and international customers. The company was born in NZ in 1998 and they have been growing steadily to become a global champion today.

We are looking to attract (on behalf of our customer) a Senior Electronics Engineering Technician to work with the design team, using state of the art test equipment to test new products being developed in the Auckland office. You will need to be able to build, test, program, troubleshoot and repair development test equipment.

Essential functions may include:

• Serve as an expert on lab equipment/tools, including maintaining lab test fixtures and apparatus and may design text fixture improvements using standard or automated tools (LabView, Visual basic).
• Set up, run and complete detailed qualification plans and reports with little direction and produces an error-free report.
• Perform expert-level PCB and unit modifications including adjusting, calibrating, aligning, and/or modifying circuitry and components and record effects on unit performance.
• Build/program text fixtures as needed to perform development tests.
• Write technical reports, including documentation of the test setup, block diagrams, and test setup schematics to fully document test results and analysis.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion.
• Serves as mentor to engineering lab assistants and engineering technicians including sharing knowledge on lab tools/processes/procedures.
• Partner with design engineers to debug 1st prototypes including new circuits or systems and may modify designs, build, and test prototype circuits for new products.

Job Requirements:

• Be confident using high level languages that can control electrical test beds such as LabView, Python.
• Degree in Electronics engineering technology or another substantially similar electronics or technical field.
• Ideally, minimum 2-3 years of experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description. However, salary depends upon experience.
• Must demonstrate expert proficiency using lab equipment and tools, including ability to efficiently create test setups and advanced level designs.
• Demonstrates understanding of testing methods and equipment required for compliance radiated, conducted and ESD EMC testing.
• Demonstrates understanding of electronics hardware and software system interactions.
• Ideally, experience with design standards and procedures and advanced knowledge of product test plans and procedures.
• Strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
