What’s the role about?

The John Lewis Partnership is developing a unique financial services offering with the key principles of being customer centric, data-driven, and integrated with the wider John Lewis and Waitrose businesses. As the senior data strategy analyst for banking or insurance products, you will be the Financial Services data expert, and will have the opportunity to shape the data capabilities that enable our market disrupting offering. 

This will require a deep understanding of retail financial products (home, car, and pet insurance, or credit and investment products) and the data that underlies them.

What you’ll be doing as a Senior Data Strategy Analyst?

The senior data strategy analyst is a pivotal role, working between commercial, technology, and data teams (including data engineering, data science, and data management) to ensure data assets are well trusted, widely adopted, and designed for the future ambitions of the business.

Critical aspects of this role are:
Data Engagement: Connecting commercial and technology teams, translating business into technical requirements, and engaging with third party providers.
Data Ownership: Owning and driving improvements of key data assets including data models, standards, reporting, and processes.
Data SME: Understanding of the end-to-end data landscape for the Financial Services business, and advising on and challenging data designs.

What you’ll have:

• Extensive experience as a data analyst working with either insurance or banking retail products
• Extensive knowledge of data querying tools (e.g. SQL) 
• Excellent stakeholder management

• Knowledge of data modelling and data management best practice
