Job Description

Senior Corporate Affairs Manager - 12 month FTC (maternity cover)

Join EDF as Senior Corporate Affairs Manager you’ll be focussed on supporting the Executive and Senior Leadership team in their external and internal stakeholder engagement. You will collaborate with colleagues from across the Communications department and widely within the company to ensure materials are relevant, high quality and consistent.

Working with the Head of Corporate Affairs, you will implement an appropriate public speaking and engagement programme for the CEO, Chairman and Executive Team, including managing internal processes for considering invitations and developing proactive opportunities.

The Senior Corporate Affairs Manager will ensure that the Chief Executive and, where appropriate, Executive Team members, receive high-quality and timely briefings that provide a coordinated view of the company position before key engagements such as meetings or events.

Pay, benefits and culture...

In addition to a competitive salary we offer a market-leading company pension scheme, paid holidays with ability to buy additional holiday and a range of flexible benefits, such as: a company incentive bonus plan, health cover, cycle to work scheme, electric vehicle scheme, gym membership, discounts and employee pricing.

We’ll support you to work flexibly from home (providing a suite of IT equipment), whilst coming together on site to offer face to face support and collaboration.

At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself.  We’re committed to equality, diversity, inclusion.  We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re an equal opportunity and disability confident employer. If you feel comfortable sharing with us that you have a disability, you meet the minimum criteria for the role, we will guarantee you an interview.

We’ll value the difference you bring and give you opportunities to thrive and succeed and to feel you belong.

The opportunity…

As a Senior Corporate Affairs Manager you will support the Head of Corporate Affairs in the development and delivery of a programme of EDF Energy private dinners, set-piece speeches and roundtables with critical national stakeholders, including but not limited to former government ministers, advisors and thinktanks.

You will deputise for the Head of Corporate Affairs at key industry forums, such as Energy UK Public Affairs Subcommittee and lead the communications department external events programme. The Senior Corporate Affairs Manager will work closely with other Communications and business unit teams to ensure smooth running of events involving the CEO and Executive Team members, including visits to key EDF Energy sites across the UK.

The Senior Corporate Affairs Manager is responsible for supporting effective delivery of joined-up external engagement by the CEO and Executive team. The role holder makes recommendations on external engagement opportunities (particularly events and meeting invitations) for the CEO, Executive team and/or Senior Leadership Team based on the strategy set out by the Head of Corporate Affairs.

What we’re looking for…

Being a Senior Corporate Affairs Manager at EDF means you put the customer at the heart of everything you do. A passion for current affairs and working within a fast paced news environment is a must for this role.

You need to have an understanding of reputational issues affecting the energy industry and be skilled at writing persuasively for external audiences. As a Senior Corporate Affairs Manager, you will have a track record of working credibly with people at senior levels of large organisations and an excellent record of relationship building and influencing skills.

Being able to work to tight deadlines and achieve high quality results, you will be an excellent organiser who can complete a number of requests from various stakeholders.
