Introduction
This Senior Commercial Manager position is a non-line management role that will directly contribute to the growth of BDUK by leading commercial engagement on our Emerging Markets new business campaigns. This role is full-time based in Bristol, with flexibility for hybrid working and travel to customer locations where required. Reporting to the Head of Commercial, Acquisition and Commercial Policy, this role will be the principal commercial lead for assigned campaigns across a number of exciting, competitive markets, expanding BDUK’s footprint, including Autonomous, Collective Training and Defence Support. This role requires building effective stakeholder relationships with UK & international Boeing teams and customer relationships with Boeing customers including UK MOD, together with strategic partners to support the full spectrum of new business activity from strategic shaping through to successful negotiation and award of contracts.
In this role you will partner with key stakeholders in making key decisions regards progression of pipeline opportunities, building winning campaign strategies for which you will be responsible for leading the development of commercial solutions and deliverables, working closely with your Finance Business Partner through the whole acquire phase before transitioning successful contract awards to delivery teams. This role requires you to act as a trusted advisor, delivering strong, decisive commercial guidance and innovative solutions, providing significant leadership and influence to the overall construction of the bid during development and the deal during negotiation. You will ensure that all finance objectives and mandates are adhered to through the bid stage, lead customer stakeholder management, apply effective governance & assurance reviews, represent to senior leadership during gate reviews, deliver first time quality products and implement best practice strategies utilising a lessons learned culture.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Deal Shaping - Exercises appropriate signature authority, participates and influences in campaign shaping & strategy, leads in proposal development, customer dialogue, negotiating and contracting for the sale and support of Boeing and partners products, services, technologies, financing and the licensing of intellectual property to support company strategies.
Commercial solution development - Leads the presentation and development of complex business solutions that require ingenuity and innovation, developed in alignment with other stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor to deliver solutions that are consistent with strategic and financial objectives.
Negotiation – Leads development of negotiation strategies and represents the company in external complex negotiations to a diverse set of customers and partners developing effective working relationships with customer counterparts.
Contract Development - Ability to lead the development of all contractual terms and conditions of strategic new business campaigns with the authority to prepare, negotiate, execute, interpret and administer legally binding contractual agreements of a complex nature in line with company policy
Pricing – In partnership with finance stakeholders, develop and manage pricing and costing methodologies and support the development of pricing models in line with market standards and regulatory requirements
Internal stakeholder management - Leads engagement with international Boeing Business Units and implements commercial arrangements to partner / support in the full lifecycle of the proposal.
Governance - Implements and maintains effective commercial governance to protect company interest, manage risk appropriately to balance strategic intent and compliance to enterprise policies, and ensure fully aligned work approaches across proposal teams and the business to ensure joined up decision-making and negotiation strategies.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Educated to degree level ideally with an accounting and/or commercial qualification or MBA
Strong technical background, with the ability to guide and develop others in the essential commercial and finance management skills
Prior experience of contracting with the UK Ministry of Defence or equivalent is desirable
Work Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance for which the Government requires UK Citizenship.
