Join EDF as a Senior Commercial Manager, and you’ll be part of one of the most exciting and challenging projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our Conventional Island Team and support the UK3011 contract. The scope of supply is for the Supply and Installation of two Turbines, awarded to GE (General Electric).

This position is a key role within the Conventional Island Programme and is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager with excellent commercial and interpersonal skills to manage a key contract.

What you’ll be doing…

  • The day-to-day management of Commercial Managers and/or Assistants.
  • Managing the relationship with the supplier and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Ensuring all Principal Accountabilities for the contract commercial team are implemented in accordance with HPC commercial procedures.
  • Overseeing the development of a Commercial/Contract Strategy and its subsequent delivery.
  • Managing stakeholder engagement for relevant area.
  • Dispute resolution - Handling claims from HPC to the supplier and from the supplier to HPC.
  • Defining the benefits realisation approach and plan.
  • Identifying, defining and managing risks associated with either Contract Delivery or the Supplier and its Supply Chain.
  • Procurement Phase - providing support to the procurement process and Commercial Lead including participating in the development of the Project Contract Strategy and reviewing the need and proposed procurement route for all Project Contracts.
  • Execution Phase - responsibility for leading and managing the execution phase of each contract including providing an overview of the individual contracts to ensure compatibility and alignment with other projects including fundamental matters such as: Scope of Work/Services and Associated Programme; Prices & Rates Schedules; Key Personnel and Arrangements for Contract Administration, incentive arrangements.
  • Closeout Phase - responsible and accountable for managing the close out phase of each contract.

 

Who you are…

Your background may include some of the following:

  • Member of the RICS / CICES / IOB/ MCIPS or equivalent professional body.
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject.
  • Track record with most common Forms of Contract (NEC & FIDIC) within the power construction industry and major projects and programme environment; with particular knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function.
  • Effective commercial / contract management skills, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies.
  • Able to demonstrate a considerable track record of administering successful contracts.
  • Highly developed commercial skills and demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on matters of significant financial value.
  • Good understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management.
  • Familiar with the nuclear site licence conditions and the nuclear baseline philosophy is desirable.
  • Good understanding of the UK regulatory framework is desirable.
