Job summary
This role can be based in London, Cambridge, Manchester or Edinburgh.

We are currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated Analytics and Media Manager (AMM) to help scale our growing advertising business. This role will work with Amazon’s unique data and translate it into research and scalable models. These models will help improve our advertising partners’ businesses by providing relevant and actionable insights and recommendations. Thereby improving our customer’s experience by providing more relevant and valuable advertising.

Amazon Advertising exists at the intersection of marketing and ecommerce and offers advertisers a rich array of innovative advertising solutions across Amazon owned properties as well as third party properties Amazon operates. We believe that advertising, when done well, can greatly enhance the value of the customer experience and generate a positive return on investment for our advertising partners.

Key job responsibilities
• Be able to deal with ambiguity in order to decipher complex problems by connecting with various stakeholders and conducting research to translate into sophisticated solutions through modelling and deep learning
• Research, analyze and extract relevant information from large amounts of Amazon's data from various sources to help build segmentations and automate recommendations
• Create data when it is needed to improve research and models
• Work with various stakeholders to understand business needs and develop novel solutions to deliver against business needs
• Create machine learning models that deliver automated recommendations to our business partners, models will improve and learn over time
• Work with various technical teams across Amazon Advertising to leverage research and work already done instead of starting from scratch
• Be curious about marketing, data, new technical approaches and solutions both inside and outside of Amazon, advertising partners’ business needs and make bold decisions to deliver novel solutions to address the toughest problems and questions
• Have a global impact through your research and associated solutions you will build

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Applied Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or Engineering or a related quantitative Bachelor’s (plus relevant experience) or Master’s degree (plus relevant experience)
• Proven experience with scripting languages (eg. Python) and/or statistical/mathematical software (eg. R, Matlab) with ability to run advanced statistical modelling and testing
• Proven experience with SQL - ability to write complex queries from scratch from multiple tables, creating the appropriate joins, extracting and manipulating data, formatting fields, creating new measures and metrics
• Experience conducting research related to clustering, segmentation and translation of these into automated solutions
• Experience building machine learning or modelling solutions using cloud technologies (eg. AWS Sagemaker)
• Ability to translate data into technical aspects of analysis and metrics into actionable insights for the advertiser and both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• In depth understanding of advanced statistical techniques and methodologies as well as linear regression analysis, multivariate regression analysis and model building
• Advanced knowledge and experience in building machine learning models in both a research and applied capability
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Comfortable presenting complex analysis in a simple, easy to digest way to C-suite level stakeholders

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Doctoral degree in Applied Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or Engineering or a related quantitative field
• Experience in advertising in a technical role where you managed significant complexity and scaling challenges
• Launching machine learning models into testing and production
• Experience in experimental design and A/B testing
• Experience and familiarity with AWS stack
• Publication track record/writing experience (eg. published a paper in a technical journal or trade publication)
