  • Developing advice on opportunities for regulatory reform to lift living standards

Economic Policy Team

Being a member of this team would give you the opportunity to lead advice to Ministers and work across the Treasury and with other agencies on:

  • The transition to a COVID resilient economy, and other near-term economic priorities
  • Managing the economic impact of future shocks to the economy, including advice on when and why the Government should intervene
  • Developing and implementing the Government's economic strategy to deliver a high wage, low emissions economy that delivers economic security for all
  • Advising Ministers on Budget spending priorities to progress its goals

You'll also get the chance to contribute to the Treasury's advice to Ministers on Māori and Pacific peoples' economic development.

Ō pūmanawa | About You

We are seeking candidates with at least four years' experience who bring:

  • Experience with difficult policy questions, economic policy or regulatory systems
  • A highly collaborative approach to your work
  • Critical thinking through constructive debate
  • The ability to coach and support junior staff
  • Comfort working at pace (when required) and dealing with ambiguity
  • Great communication skills and emotional intelligence
  • The ability to motivate and influence others
  • A strong delivery focus

Ko ngā hua | What we Offer

  • The opportunity to work in a supportive and high-performing team, and internal opportunities across the organisation
  • An environment where excellence is recognised, and staff are encouraged to develop their own talents and potential
  • A workplace that values diversity and inclusion and recognises the value of your lived experiences
  • Flexible work arrangements (including working from home) and encouragement to enjoy a positive work/life balance
  • A range of health and wellbeing initiatives
  • 5 weeks annual leave for permanent full-time employees (pro-rated for part-time employees)
