About the team
The Operations, Customer and Place-making (OCP) team ensures Sydney Metro is equipped to deliver integrated, reliable, customer focused and efficient services. We are also managing large scale place-making projects, designing, and developing thriving precincts where community members can gather, connect, shop, work and play. We are proud of what we have achieved so far and excited for the full vision of Sydney Metro to come to life.
The opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Advisor Sustainability to join us in the Environment, Sustainability & Planning team, which sits within the OCP Division - on a fixed term full time basis for 3 years.
The purpose of the role is to help manage the integration, delivery and reporting of best-practice environmental and social sustainability outcomes on the Sydney Metro West project, ensuring alignment with relevant approvals and contract requirements. The position will primarily be focussed on our stations stream, engaging in the procurement, design development and contract management of our station developments and integrated/over station developments.
What you will be involved in:
Helping to lead and manage a team of sustainability specialists and consultants who are responsible for identifying and implementing sustainability initiatives which will build on our legacy and deliver great outcomes for the environment, customers, communities and Sydney Metro.
Working as a valued member of a multi-disciplinary project delivery team to provide advice and recommendations on project sustainability issues.
Providing specialist advice on sustainable built environment issues and ensuring the design and delivery of Metro West stations and buildings aligns to the achivement of best practice ratings using recognised building rating schemes (e.g. Green Star)
Ensuring design and construction contractors are appropriately integrating and delivering on sustainability requirements, by providing specialist advice, reviewing designs, responding to queries, identifying and managing risks, solving problems, reviewing documentation and conducting audits and site inspections.
Working with stakeholders across Sydney Metro, government and industry.
Collaborating with the Environment, Sustainability and Planning team to influence sustainability strategies and approaches across the broader Sydney Metro program of works.
This position is located in the CBD, with flexible work arrangements. It will also have a site base, depending on the project requirements and may manage up to 3 direct reports.

About you
You are a tertiary qualified sustainability focussed engineer, sustainability management or built environment professional with experience in building developments and Green Star who is looking for an opportunity to contribute to a once in a generation project.
You are an effective communicator who is passionate about sustainability issues and has proven experience and success in sustainability and sustainability best practice within complex operating environments associated with major urban development or infrastructure projects.
With tertiary qualifications in sustainability management, engineering, architecture, environmental management, planning or similar, you will also possess a demonstrated capacity to manage people and work within multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems and drive outcomes.
Salary and benefits
Transport Senior Service (TSSM) permanent full-time role offering an attractive remuneration package. The is a temporary role for a period of 3 years.
