Within our Supervision function is our Monitoring & Oversight (M&O) team. The M&O team engages with a wide range of market participants, including banks, insurers, fund managers, derivatives issuers, and supervisors. The team also collaborates with other government agencies including the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ), the Commerce Commission and overseas regulators.

Due to the FMA's growing remit, we have room for a new Senior Adviser to join our Auckland-based M&O team. In this role, you'll lead monitoring and thematic reviews, as well as championing licence application assessments and assessing instances of misconduct by firms. As a senior member of the team, you'll get the opportunity to coach and mentor advisers/associate advisers, lead collaborative initiatives across diverse teams and be the SME when it comes to AML.

Key to your success in this role will be your:

• Background in financial services or regulatory environment, from either a banking, insurance, compliance, funds management, legal, accounting or an investigative environment.
• At least 5 years' experience in a compliance or risk role
• Demonstrated capability in leading projects or key initiatives.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
• Agility, resilience, self-motivation, and ability to maintain momentum with a strategic focus.
