Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Kura Ohaoha Pūtea - The School of Economics and Finance has an exciting and challenging permanent opportunity for a Senior Administrator position. It is a great opportunity for someone with passion, drive and keen to take initiative to add value to our School. Being located close to the Railway Station in vibrant Wellington CBD makes the location ideal for our staff and nothing beats a lunchtime walk along the waterfront.

The Senior Administrator's responsibilities include providing course administration to 100-level course coordinators and lecturers. You will be involved in tutor and tutorial programme management. You will also support the general school administration. The successful applicant will have the ability to use initiative while working both independently on tasks, and collaboratively within the team and demonstrates high levels of both written and oral communication skill, along with accuracy are an essential part of the skillset we are looking for.

You will be a motivated, customer-focused individual who can take the initiative, provide excellent administration and policy compliance.

You will thrive in this role with an excellent manner with people, an ability to influence and manage conflict, strong attention to detail, and self-management skills. This role is busy, challenging, extremely rewarding and interesting for the individual with the right temperament.

You will be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high performing team. You will need effective time management and forward planning to balance meeting deadlines and maintain a high standard of service to both students and staff. The ability to remain calm under pressure and thrive working with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Key requirements include the following:

  • Professional administrative skills and competencies
  • Outstanding people and communication skills including the ability to adjust to different audiences
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Have an extensive knowledge of and experience in a range of computer applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint
