 Within Technology Product Development you will work with people who are passionate about delivering high quality products and services. You’ll focus on providing quality systems and services that matter to the nation's economy. Payment, Analytical, Supervision and Central Functions systems, we develop and support them all as part of our broad remit. Collaborating closely with colleagues across Technology and throughout the organisation, you will to help deliver safe and supportable services which underpin business processes.

You will be given experience, knowledge and time to learn SAP technologies, methods of delivering them and most importantly getting ‘value’ for the Bank ! There is scope to be creative with the processes used particularly to deliver business value and to play a critical role in the Bank’s evolution of its SAP Platform


Job description

 We are looking for a Delivery Manager to be accountable for all aspects of IT delivery, with the exclusion of Architecture, and service introduction, leading to the successful end to end implementation of the IT element of a project, working closely with colleagues across multiple domains and teams. The role will support the SAP Platform Lead who has responsibility for the technical delivery of the SAP Platform, Change, including Small Change, and Investment Board projects the domain is involved in as part of the wider Bank Portfolio.

The Delivery Manager will be a key member of the SAP Product team managing ‘front door’ processes for Change Demand, the Product Backlog, and processes for delivering Change (including the Testing of Change) In collaboration with Solution Experts and Business Teams the Delivery Manager will orchestrate the appropriate solution design and those responsible for delivering that solution. The jobholder will have matrix management responsibility for internal IT resources and the SAP Product Team who will deliver the solution to the agreed plan, considering time, budget and quality.

The scope of work on a given project will vary dependant on the size, complexity and content of the Project, but the Delivery Manager will be responsible for driving, leading and delivering;

 

  • Collaborating with the business and Platform Leads to agree scope, delivery plans and product backlog deconstructing roadmap into defined work packages, sprints, increments and maintenance releases.
  • Oversight of key technology work packages, including non-functional requirements, leading to successful delivery against plan
  • Monitoring progression of plan with active management of risks & issues, dependencies, estimation accuracy providing visibility and transparency of work status
  • Conducting agile ceremonies.
  • The reporting of Technology progress against plan to Business Teams, the PM and/or Platform Lead, incorporating resourcing, capability assessment and value for money, managing / highlighting exceptions as required
  • The building of key internal and external networks in order to hold effective negotiations.
  • The management of resource demand, securing commitments from all relevant Technology groups and other groups involved in the delivery of agreed solutions 
  • Day to day matrix management of the scrum team/product team.
  • Co-ordinating effective progression between project stages
  • Vendor engagement, management and performance tracking
  • Define and implement change control
  • Define and track delivery key performance metrics
  • Lead engagement on audit reviews
  • End to end validation and environment provision (including Environment Planning)
  • Definition of completion at each stage gate
  • Demonstration/”show and tell” to business


Role Requirements

Minimum Essential Criteria

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Experience in the delivery of IT projects in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, including all aspects of project and work package planning, cost and budget management
  • A strong emphasis on quality, accuracy and meeting deadlines
  • Strong capability with JIRA
  • Excellent business customer management skills, with the ability to advise senior staff on their area of expertise and present at Project Board / Delivery Board meetings to senior management level
  • Vendor management experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage uncertainty and take a continuous approach to planning, forecasting, estimating, metrics/measurements and contingency planning
  • Self-starting and able to work calmly under pressure
  • Ability to build teams, ensuring they are motivated, collaborating and working well together
  • Coaches and mentors others to apply the most appropriate tools and techniques
  • Able to quickly identify and resolve issues and flaws in product delivery and resource competencies so that they can be prioritised appropriately
  • Awareness of risk identification & mitigation
  • Broad understanding of Technology as they will liaise with colleagues across Security, Applications and Infrastructure
  • Proven track record of building relationships with business colleagues and ability to demonstrate an interest in and understanding of business processes.

 Desirable Criteria

  • Expertise in a relevant IT project delivery methodology with a focus on agile
  • Experience in utilising Confluence.
  • Experience in the delivery of SAP Change and awareness of SAP Technology (training on SAP will be provided)
  • Awareness of testing activities and methodologies including Test Scope, Test Management and Test Planning
  • Project management qualification, e.g. APMP, Prince2, MSP, Agile
  • Experienced in managing the end to end delivery of multiple IT projects
  • Clearly understands the different phases of product delivery and is able to contribute to, plan or run these

This specific role offers a base salary  of between £60,000- £69, 000 per annum, along with our comprehensive benefits package as follows:

•    A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
•    A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
•    A 7% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
•    25 days annual leave with option to buy up to 13 additional days through flexible benefits.
•    Private medical insurance and income protection.
