About this role
Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) is a key sales channel for BT, and an exciting segment in Enterprise, putting focus on small and medium business customers. Our purpose in SME is to be the engine for growth for UK small businesses, ensuring they have brilliant solutions to help their businesses thrive.
It’s an exciting period of growth for SME, and as we establish our new Enterprise operating model to achieve that growth, this role will be critical to support the delivery of our business transformation plans and goals. This role is responsible for defining and delivery the technology components and capabilities required to underpin the success of these transformation plans. The roleholder will work closely with internal and external partners, to test and deliver new and improved capabilities, which meet business requirements and deliver a best in class sales experience for SME customers and colleagues.
You'll have the following responsibilities
Integrates and implements end-to-end solutions across customers and business areas
Works autonomously to deliver and implement discrete technical solutions, including scoping, testing, delivery to live, on time and budget
Monitors technical solutions to ensure alignment between business need and scope of delivery, managing any changes raised during the project and manages interdependencies that arise during delivery.
Provides technical expertise to ensure solution integrity and quality of third party inputs.
Liaises with customers, suppliers and peers to update on progress and resolve issues, managing impacts on components integral to delivery of scope.
Identifies improvements to process and service to improve delivery of benefits for customers.
Specifically in this role: -
As part of a complex change programme for SME sales, this role is
accountable for mobilising and delivering the technology requirements of the programme, in line with the scope and budget for the project, and aligned to the SME channel technology strategy – including, but not limited to software development, testing, release management, and in life service.
Deliver key technology components, including a Lead Generation Engine, Sales CRM and a Digital presence – firstly by launching minimal viable products (MVP) into a new operation, then iterating functionality based on in life learnings.
Where applicable, make sure we encourage use of shared capabilities across Enterprise sales channels, to support a simple and consistent customer and colleague experience.
Collaborate with key external partners / subject matter experts e.g. consultancies and software vendors, ensuring their deliveries are integrated into the overall programme; complement own expertise with industry insight, to inform recommendations on technology components for project.
Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders for the project within BT – across Technology, Digital, and CTIO.
Ensure comprehensive governance is in place and ahered to, and that defined methodologies, processes and tools are consistently applied, aligned to the standards set by the Enterprise Transformation PMO.
Manages project risk with an ability to use and adapt recognized project management methods and processes depending on elements of the risk profile and governance needs.
You'll have the following skills & experience
Strong programme management skills and track record of delivering transformational change programmes – professional project management certification desirable e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, APM RPP etc.
Sales tools and systems – knowledge of industry leading CRM systems; understand end-to-end sales processes, and able to identify suitable capabilities that enable the business to achieve their plans
Technology excellence - maintain expertise in emerging technology trends; use skills and knowledge to develop content to support the sharing of complex technical information; remain current and curious about industry trends, applying best practice to shape approach to role.
A degree or equivalent in a relevant STEM / technology discipline is desirable
Improvement focus - take initiave and ownership to solve problems; help to remove barriers and find the capabilities, tools, and systems needed to support improve processes, and business and customer outcomes.
Systems thinking - provide technical expertise to evaluate the impacts and links between structure, people, process and technology, thinking through the whole systems context, new perspectives and insight before taking on projects
Business acumen: Knowledgeable in drivers of organisational performance, and able to articulate a compelling case for change and investment (e.g. business KPIs, business cases)
Be agile - identify opportunities to use collaborative approaches and continuous improvement. You contribute to projects as a subject matte expert or content owner.
Stakeholder management – identify and build strong, purposeful relationships with a network of internal and external stakeholders and partners.
Handles complex and difficult situations with thought and confidence: comfortable in the absence of direction, and role model effective delivery of outcomes, even during times of ambiguity, risk, and emotion
Role model continuous improvement and learning, coaching, and providing feedback and recognition to peers and colleagues.
Experience you would be expected to have:
3+ years relevant industry experience
Experience delivering a broad range of change programmes, and experience managing significant risk – preferably in a range of sectors
Managed budget for part of the business or for large project
Experience of agile development techniques
Experience delivering complex technical solutions – software development, systems integration, automation (internally or to customers)
Made decisions in ambiguous situations using incomplete information or differing opinions
Actively participated in strategy setting session
