In the Government Team, we care deeply about supporting our Central, Local and Regional Government customers to get the most out of the solutions they invest in. It is our responsibility to help these organisations to make better decisions that result in better care for the most vulnerable members of society. To do that, we need to help our customers become more productive, to get more from their data, and to digitize as many processes as possible to free up time for their people to offer fantastic services, care and compassion to those citizens who need it the most. 

  

To help our customers achieve this, Microsoft have a broad family of resources who bring diverse perspectives to our customers, building alliances with a variety of stakeholders to support their digital transformation journey. The Sales Manager plays a crucial role in building long lasting relationships with our customers and leading a team of Client Executives and Client Technology Leads who own customer relationships with the Chief Executives, Chief Digital Officers, Chief Information Officers, Department Directors, and key business decision makers. 

  

We are currently looking for a Sales Manager to support and lead our high performing Strategic Central Government accounts. This role is part of our new Government Structure, bringing together two successful teams into a wider Government organisation. Embracing a challenger mindset, the successful candidate will orchestrate and lead their team in supporting our largest central government departments. The ambitions we have for our strategic customers are significant and the opportunity to transform and make an impact here has never been greater. 

  

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead strategic programmes across these departments, to represent Microsoft in industry forums and use your experience and knowledge of the digital industry and economy, to help our customer drive transformation that truly impacts the UK. 

Responsibilities

  • Attract, retain and develop talent to enable the team and business to grow
  • Lead, inspire and engage the v-team
  • Take our customers on a journey of digital transformation and move to the cloud
  • Take ownership for the customer experience
  • Meet or exceed revenue objectives set by the business
  • Increase Microsoft’s credibility and depth of engagement in the sector
  • Engage and successfully drive partners around relevant solutions
  • Ensure that the customer gets best value from their investments by driving consumption of cloud services
  • Work seamlessly with the Microsoft Consulting organization to the benefit of the customer, partners and Microsoft

Key Success Criteria

 

  • Achievement of commercial objectives
  • Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date strategic sales plans
  • Maintain an accurate forecast and healthy pipeline of opportunities
  • Manage stakeholders within and outside Microsoft
  • Achievement of all PS scorecard metrics
  • Drive opportunity reviews (inclusive of partners)
  • Engage with and lead the Microsoft Specialist Sales team and other virtual team members.
  • Take the lead role in any major sales campaign
  • Driving powerful PR based on success stories with the customer
  • Demonstrating the development of senior executive relationships.
  • Improvement in customer satisfaction measures
  • Personal contribution to the success of the UK Government team in Public Sector, UK
  • Value-based engagement with Microsoft EMEA and Corp.
  • Personal positive impact beyond the immediate team

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Technology-related sales or account management experience
    • OR equivalent customer/strategy based business experience
  • Deep expertise within Government industry
  • People management experience
