Job Introduction
Working with the Sales Managers, this role will be responsible for maximising the exploitation and profitability of the BBC Studios content catalogue through licensing to digital and OTT platforms and broadcasters as well as managing the channels distribution and renewals in Korea
The Sales Executive will work closely with colleagues in territory to ensure effective windowing of content and ensure the accurate implementation of contracts negotiated in this area.
Role Responsibility
- With guidance, promote and sell the BBC content and channels in the designated territory. To achieve set sales targets, to help prepare annual forecasts and to maintain tight control over their business as directed
- Foster and maintain close contact with the clients, developing excellent relationships with both broadcasters and key production companies, at an appropriate level to achieve set financial objectives. To identify where required new customers for all the relevant products
- Responsible for the promotion and sales of the programme catalogue to the Acquisitions department
- Negotiate commercial terms with clients and work closely with sales operations and legal teams to manage contracting and approvals within the BBC framework
- Working with the Global Operations team, ensure that all clients and prospects receive timely promotional and programming material (e.g. publicity, online preview access, DVD screeners, master tapes, M&E soundtracks, and scripts).
- Maintain an up to date file of market research, programming requirements and changing consumer profiles, new technology developments in the market as well as competitor activity in the territory.
- Provide monthly and yearly reports on performances of BBC branded services to clients.
- Provide communication and assistance between clients and engineering/technical team to resolve channels related technical issues on an ad-hoc basis
The Ideal Candidate
- Ability to build strong relationships both with external clients and internal stakeholders
- Professional credibility with a developing knowledge of the BBC catalogue
- A degree of negotiation experience.
- In depth market knowledge of region
- Strong communication and presentation skills in Korean and English.
- Influencing and networking skills
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Computer literate with strong MS Office skills
- Excellent organisation and administration skills
- Developing understanding of business financials, products and services, and specific market and account needs
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal with people at all levels
- Ability to cope well under pressure in a busy sales environment
- Experience in a sales role, within a media sales environment including the contractual and rights procedures involved in format exploitation and production
- An understanding of the European television and production markets and a proven working knowledge of the territories
- Interest in entertainment programming and production processes
