About this role
The Cyber and Information Security (CIS) Team within Networks sets requirements and policy for cyber and information security risk across BT. This role is based in the Risk team in CIS and is focussed on technical security risk, which is a core component of the group risk category of cyber security. The role holder works to identify, assess, report and advise on the risk involved in how BT manages its technology controls to mitigate cyber threats to BT. The role holder provides a second line view on how effectively the confidentiality, integrity and availability of BT’s systems, networks and data are managed to ensure BT and its customers are adequately protected from cyber threats.
You'll have the following responsibilities
• Leads on technical security risk for Cyber and Information Security, acting as a subject matter expert.
• Defines, develops and oversees the identification, assessment, management and control of technical security risks.
• Produces required reporting for BT’s Security Council and provides expert insight into other forums.
• Leads risk analysis and risk appetite definition for technical security risks.
• Provides direction and leadership for technical security risk, supporting investment decisions where needed.
• Sets the approach for managing technical security risk and advises on emerging security threats.
• Specifies and influences design and execution of risk mitigation projects to reduce control gaps and bring technical security risk within BT’s risk appetite.
You'll have the following skills & experience
• Ability to articulate technical risk management concepts for a non-technical audience.
• Demonstrates curiosity and foresight to anticipate future threats and adjust risk posture.
• Ability to operate efficiently and deliver relevant and timely advice and guidance which influences decision making.
• Drives and co-ordinates the efforts of colleagues to manage and improve the risk within BT’s risk appetite.
• Able to persuade and influence without formal line management responsibilities.
• Broad knowledge of technical security policies, standards and procedures
• External risk or security qualifications (preferred).
