SESLHD covers nine Local Government Areas from Sydney's Central Business District to the Royal National Park and has a culturally and linguistically diverse population of over 930,000 people, which includes highly urbanised areas of eastern Sydney, southern Sydney and industrialised areas around Port Botany.
SESLHD covers urban and suburban communities and manages eight public hospitals and one public nursing home:

Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital
War Memorial Hospital (third schedule with Uniting Care)

SESLHD also operates 28 Child and Family Health Centres, 12 Community Health Centres and nine Oral Health Clinics; providing prevention, early intervention and community-based treatment, palliative care and rehabilitation services.
Drug and Alcohol, Mental Health, Breast screening, HIV/AIDS, Public Health, Women's Health, Youth Health, Sexual Health, Imaging and Pathology services are provided at a number of facilities across SESLHD.

The primary location of this position will be, St George Hospital.

Responsibilities include:
Coordinating the admission, management and discharge planning of patients seen in or admitted to his / her Unit within the Local Health District, and ensuring that the admission and plans are documented in the medical record.
Communicating with the patient and their family regarding the nature of their condition and its treatment
Communicating and coordinating care with the team, arranging consultation with other staff when appropriate, then arranging/planning discharge where applicable and liaising with local medical officers and other community based care modalities.
All decisions concerning the patient(s) should be in consultation with their immediate supervisor
MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
Will complete 12 months experience working as a medical officer (not observer) in an Australian Public Hospital.
Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and computer skills.
A professional attitude and flexibility in work role with a preparedness and ability to participate in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters.
Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment
Willingness to work and rotate in different hospitals within the network, including rural hospital
