Job Description

William Booth House provides accommodation and support based on individual needs to 109 homeless males and females aged 18 and above.

Key Responsibilities:

The role of Support Worker - Relief Worker with The Salvation Army is an inspirational one, key to achieving successful outcomes for clients and the service as a whole. As a motivated and dynamic Support Worker you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality support service during to clients both in the Lifehouse and the wider community. You will liaise with clients and a variety of services to create personalised support plans which offer holistic support to meet clients’ needs and promote client choice and control. You will work both independently and as part of a team to address client issues and barriers to resettlement, enabling them to make positive life choices and ultimately empower them to lead more sustainable lifestyles. You will also complete day to day activities with the clients as well as administration tasks and reception duties to support the successful operation of the service.

The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:

  • Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a related field or be willing to work towards.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable and high complex needs clients who may display challenging behaviour.
  • Knowledge of the benefit system and an understanding of supported housing funding streams and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of the legislation relating to Health and Safety and safeguarding of clients and staff.
  • Understand a personal value base which is in line with core values of the organisation
