Regulatory Strategy and Licensing Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Regulatory Strategy and Licensing Manager to join our Regulatory Interface and External Oversight team based at our Gloucester office.

Supporting the Head of Regulatory Interface and External Oversight (RI&EO) in providing strategic and advisory support to the Business in relation to our regulatory interactions with all NGL regulators including; ONR and EA/SEPA. This support will span the lifetime of the NGL fleet from Generation, Defueling and up to and including License transfer.

You’ll have the platform to liaise and strategically interact both internally and externally with the regulators to proactively support a constructive relationship and smooth transfer to Magnox, providing oversight and guidance on Nuclear Licensing and permitting areas with transfer of sites post fuel free verification.

What you'll be doing

Alongside reporting to the Head of Regulatory Interface and External Oversight, you’ll also:

  • Pull together regulatory issues, interpret key themes and facilitate strategies to address issues identified
  • As well as providing strategic oversight, you’ll deploy policies, process and procedures which allow the effective regulatory interaction within Nuclear Generation
  • Promote continuous improvement and excellence, ensuring all activities are carried our with full regard to Nuclear Site Licence requirements and other statutory regulations
  • Support the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the team business plan and budget.
  • Coach and work with other Group Heads to deliver agreed team and individual business targets
  • Attend regulatory meetings and Annual Review meetings as appropriate to support the business development and maintain professional and constructive relationships with external bodies

As well as the above, you may at times be required to deputise for the Head of Regulatory Interface and External Oversight and travel between Nuclear Power Plants may be required.

Who you are

As the Regulatory Strategy and Licensing Manager you will hold:

  • A post-graduate degree in a relevant technical discipline and hold significant management experience within the Nuclear Industry
  • Vast experience of Nuclear Licensing and Regulator interactions with the ONR (Safety and Security), EA, and or SEPA – 5 years pus

You’ll also bring to the role:

  • Exceptional communicative, interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • The ability to set, promote and monitor achievement of standards and expectations
  • Effective line and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively manage relationships internally and with our external stakeholders particularly Nuclear Regulators
  • You’ll be a motivated individual, with the proactivity and ability to lead, develop and encourage a team
  • Experience of assessing the adequacy of Nuclear Safety related management arrangements against Site Licence Conditions
