Are you an effective problems solver? Are you interested in registering health care providers for OHIP billing numbers, providing advice and ensuring effective service delivery? In this unique role, you will work independently and with a small team, where each phone call or document will present a new challenge, issue or outcome.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

  • Process new applications/changes by reviewing applications for completeness and verifying eligibility.
  • Maintain document control and administer mail for the unit.
  • Maintain files and databases.
  • Monitor compliance with legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Provide customer service support by responding to inquiries.

How do I qualify?

POLICY AND PROGRAM KNOWLEDGE:

  • You can understand, interpret and apply relevant sections of policies and procedures associated with the Health Insurance Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Ontario Drug Benefit Act, and Independent Health Facilities Act to determine eligibility for registration and payment.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • You have the demonstrated skills and experience to input and retrieve data, process applications and manage files within various Ministry applications such as Remedy and the Corporate Provider Database.
  • You are proficient with software packages including Microsoft Office applications and electronic mail.

ORGANIZATIONAL AND TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS:

  • You are able to work under pressure, exercise initiative, work accurately, organize and use time management skills to meet deadlines.

RESEARCH AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS:

  • You have demonstrated research and analytical skills to review data and assess compliance.

COMMUNICATION AND TEAMWORK SKILLS:

  • You have proven oral, written and interpersonal skills to explain registration legislation, policy, operational procedures and eligibility criteria.
  • You have teamwork skills to foster a team environment within the unit.
