About the position:
As a Registered Nurse in the F2 Ward at John Hunter Hospital, you will provide individualised excellent patient care to maximise the health outcomes for the patient, reporting to the Nursing Unit Manager. F2 Ward is a 32 bed inpatient ward in John Hunter Hospital providing specialised care to respiratory, infectious disease, rheumatology and dermatology inpatients.
The successful applicant will be supported by a Clinical Nurse Educator, Nurse Practioner and Respiratory Clinical Nurse Consultant and a mentor, and opportunities for education relevant to positon will be provided to help you in developing the skills and knowledge you need to become expert in the field of nursing.

Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital is a tertiary referral hospital, teaching hospital and community hospital featuring fifteen operating theatres, 550 adult beds and 101 paediatric beds. With the busiest ED in the state, major trauma centre for Northern NSW and delivering services to people of all ages from birth, to childhood and adulthood, it is a great place to develop or start your career.
About You:
You are a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse with recent acute/sub-acute experience and demonstrated ability to mentor and lead teams.
You will be flexible, reliable and available to perform all shifts/days and have the capacity to interact with others on a personal and professional manner. The successful applicant will also be a problem solver with excellent communication skills to proactively engage with patients/clients to understand their needs, enhance service delivery and act on situations / resolve conflicts when required.
An eagerness to increase your acute care skills with an interest in respiratory and infectious disease nursing will be highly regarded, as opportunities to learn TIVAD, Tracheostomy care and maintenance, ICC, cough assist, ABG interpretation and telemetry will be provided.
All NSW Health workers are required to have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or have an approved medical contraindication certificate. Applicants are required to provide a record of their COVID-19 vaccination status as part of their application.
This position is full time however, part time/job share arrangements may also be considered.

To be eligible for employment in these roles you must be: an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or a citizen of another country with an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia.
If you currently hold a temporary visa that allows you to live and work in Australia you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
