Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists for Registered Nurses to join the Perioperative Team at Wollongong Hospital on a permanent & temporary basis.

This is for a permanent fulltime position & various temporary hours leave relief until November 2023 with the possibility of extension.

All NSW Health workers are required to have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by 30 September 2021 and two doses by 30 November 2021 or have an approved medical contraindication certificate. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

What you'll be doing

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of person centred, evidence-based nursing care that promotes positive health outcomes in the Operating Theatres.

The Registered nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the Multidisciplinary healthcare team. The Registered Nurse will assist in the provision of supervision and support for less experienced clinicians and will maintain their professional accountability and development in accordance with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Competency Standards.

Further to this the Registered Nurse will align their professional conduct with those of the NSW Health CORE Values.

Selection Criteria: * Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).

Recent clinical experience in Operating Theatres.

Knowledge of Infection Control and Standard Precautions

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills.

Computer literacy and understanding of relevant health related information systems.

Demonstrated understanding of person centred care and NSW Health Core Values.

Demonstrates an understanding of the Continuous Quality Improvement concepts.
