  • Specialising in the assessment and treatment of patients with dementia or delirium.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

Ward BG (Older Person's Mental Health) is a 20 bed assessment, treatment and rehabilitation ward with an organic psychiatric focus. The team provides comprehensive assessment of the mental and physical health of older people, whilst aiming to optimise the patient's level of functioning, offering specialist treatment, care, support and education.

An opportunity has become available for a Registered Nurse to join the team at the Burwood Hospital. A rewarding role, working with patients experiencing progressive dementia, acute episodes of delirium, as well as complex medical co-morbidities and general behavioural problems associated with altered cognition.

We have two positions available:

  • 0.94FTE (4 on 2 off roster pattern)
  • 0.675FTE (3 on 3 off roster pattern)

In order to be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 2 - 4 years' experience as a registered nurse
  • Hold registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, with mental health scope and current APC
  • Be a confident practitioner with good patient assessment skills
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a wide variety of people
  • Experience working in Mental Health
