About New Zealand Blood Service

New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) has sole responsibility for collecting, processing and distributing blood in New Zealand.

Through the generosity of our donors, we are able to help save lives through our blood, blood products and other services.

At the end of the day, you know that you've contributed in some way to making a difference in someone's life.

Our shared values are at the heart of our organisation's culture and guide our behaviour each and every day. They inspire us, motivate us and drive us to provide the very best service to the New Zealand public.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity working in a unique part of the health sector, where although you are not working as part of a DHB, you are still caring for people and making a huge difference to patient outcomes.

There is a lot more to being a nurse at NZBS other than just taking blood. Dealing with primarily well people gives a different perspective to a working day.

You can say goodbye to night shifts as you'll be working Monday to Friday.

Whether you are interested in developing your clinical skills and experience in therapeutic procedures; your leadership skills coordinating our collects;

or your coaching and training and development skills, inspiring our staff to be the best they can be, NZBS has fantastic opportunities for everyone.

About you and the role

As our donors regularly go out of their way to give up their time to donate blood, great customer service is key to ensuring they have an amazing donation experience that encourages their continued support.

So to be successful in this role you'll be a great communicator with good written and verbal skills, vital for reassuring the donor every step of the way.

We welcome enquiries from RNs who will utilise their health assessment, critical thinking and reflective practice skills to contribute to all aspects of the collection of blood products and donor health education at our donor room collects.

No phlebotomy experience needed! Let us train you!

A comprehensive induction programme, training and PDRP available.

If this role sounds like you and you are self-motivated, get the best out of people and able to communicate on all levels, then we would like to hear from you.

The NZ Blood Service is part of the Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021 (Health Order) effective on 25 October 2021 requiring employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

It is therefore a condition of employment that you are vaccinated against Covid-19.
