About the role

Within the framework of the mission, vision, values, philosophy and policies of Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision and documentation of safe, effective and appropriate patient centred nursing care in a team based environment.

Key Responsibilities

Demonstrated understanding of risk management processes and systems

Protects the rights of patients whilst respecting their values, customs and spiritual beliefs

Provide relevant and current health care information to patients in a form which facilitates the patient and carers understanding and self-care

Take appropriate action to meet needs of the unit, assisting others when help is required

Demonstrate flexibility that meets changing needs of the unit or work environment

Knowledge of and willingness to work towards achieving Emergency Department Key Performance Indicators

Commitment to customer service

Demonstrated communication, organisational and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and in periods of high demand and activity

The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement. Leave types may include but not limited to Long Service Leave, Annual Leave and Sick Leave. Applicants are encouraged to discuss this with the Convenor for further information.
