Receptionist – Fixed Term (maternity leave cover) / 20 hours per week, School Term Only / Mangere College, Auckland

This is approximately a 12-month maternity leave cover position

Mangere College is a school at the heart of its community. The board and staff celebrate the school’s multicultural composition. In particular, the school acknowledges the significant Pasifika student community, and staff emphasize a strong sense of whanau, aiga and family within the college.

We are seeking a Receptionist.  This is an important member of the Administration team and is responsible for reception and front office support which contributes to the smooth operation and on-going team support within the school.  This position has contact with students, staff and visitors that requires a high standard of professionalism, effective and efficient support, and reports to the Operations Manager. 

This position is part time, school term only from 8.30am to 12.30pm, Monday to Friday, 20 hours per week, SSSCA Grade C Step 4, Mangere location and requires a motivated professional who is warm, proactive, positive team player with excellent communication, organisation, and customer service skills.

This role will suit someone who has experience within Reception, Customer Service and Administration.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Experience in a receptionist role, customer service and office administration within a professional services environment is advantageous
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve and work in a fluid office environment
  • Excellent phone manner and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and managing sensitive information
  • Professional and well presented
  • Sound cash handling, numeracy, and literacy skills
  • Works well under pressure
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Well-developed keyboard and computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office word processing and spreadsheet software

Key areas of responsibility in this role include, but not limited to

  • Support school enrolments process, parent student teacher conferences, prizegiving and graduation
  • Quality customer service and interaction
  • Database administration
  • General administration duties

Please note, in line with the Public Health Response Order, all school-based teaching and non-teaching staff will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
