Job Description

Here at Datacom we connect people and technology in order to solve challenges, create opportunities and discover new possibilities for the communities we live in.

Our Team

You’ll work with a team of passionate, innovative and dedicated people that focuses on getting the job done whilst delivering the latest solutions to our clients. We are a very fast-paced team who are driven to deliver awesome technology! As one of New Zealand’s biggest software leaders we have a great mix of senior through to junior levels, so there’s heaps of people to learn from and you can take your career on any path you choose!

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join a diverse and dynamic solution provider with a huge range of clients and high-level in-house expertise. We adhere to agile principles and deliver using modern technologies, the latest development tools and practices, and always put customer value first.

Your talent is critical to help us build and develop our QA practice. We are in a growth mode and are looking for senior leaders and test managers to join us to manage projects and people. We are looking to you to explore project opportunities, build and implement test strategies, and to lead a team of testers to deliver quality results for our customers. You will leverage your experience as a test lead / test manager to create and implement effective test plans/approaches that will meet the needs of the customer within the constraints of schedules and budgets. You will understand the role that automation can play to enhance an effective test strategy. To perform optimally, you will need a strong background in testing lifecycles, test engagement models, good QA practices, test/defect management tool usage, reporting and presenting to executive levels.

Great! What skills do I need?

To earn a place on our team you must be able to devise and implement a successful test approach for a project, including both manual and automated testing. You must be able to work independently with minimal guidance and to successfully guide a team that may be composed of Datacom and customer testers. You must be willing to get your hands dirty – to dig in and help with testing as needed.

You must demonstrate strong and successful leadership experience, having worked in a similar role for at least three years.

We will ask you to show us your:

  • Proven knowledge of the proper testing approach across the software testing levels and with various software development lifecycles such as Agile and DevOps
  • Ability to analyse a project, determine the optimal approach and test management tools
  • Background in IT in general, software testing in particular
  • Proven ability to deliver quality results in a busy and dynamic business-focused environment
  • Knowledge of a variety of software testing practices and current methodologies and tools
  • Ability to train and develop a team with mixed skills and experience levels
  • Dedication to improvement via training, certifications or self-study

What you'll bring

You are someone who is self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. You are technically skilled and genuinely interested in technology as a creative pursuit and not just a job. You can demonstrate the ability to learn, pivot and be open to new ideas. A client-focused attitude is a must, along with demonstrated team leadership capability.
