The Opportunity

 

As our next Project Portfolio Manager, your role will be to lead a team of Station focused Project Professionals to deliver safe and maximum value, while working as a part of the Power Station Leadership team. You will be reporting to the Investment Delivery Regional Operations Manager, working in a matrix organisation between the Central Technical Organisation and Torness Power Station. 

 In this role, you will be accountable and responsible for the performance and delivery of the Station Portfolio working closely with the Station Management Team, you will drive value and benefit into the safe operation, defuelling and decommissioning during the whole lifecycle of the Power Station. 

The Role

 

The Project Portfolio Manager is a First Line Leadership role, so your commitment to driving a team will play a fundamental aspect in your tole. Other daily roles and responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Managing the team of Project Managers, Project Engineers, Construction Manager and Project Controls resources as part of a matrix organisation
  • Maintaining strong relationships with Project Sponsors and members of the Station Lead Team to ensure that Projects are effectively supported by the business
  • Supporting the day to day management of staff and contractors, including safety and mental health and wellbeing
  • Being responsible for ensuring compliance with all Investment Delivery processes and procedures
  • Ensuring the Projects in the Portfolio are adequately resourced and for maintaining a resource plan/ forecast for their Portfolio.

The Skills

 

First and foremost, we're looking for you to be a Nuclear Professional, demonstrating a strong commitment to Nuclear Safety and Zero Harm. You will be a natural communicator with ability to inspire and motivate a multi-disciplinary team of skilled professionals, influencing and building trust at levels, across a diverse group of stakeholders. In this role, you will form strong and meaningful relationships both on and off the Power Station, including Suppliers, Regulators, Nuclear Decommissioning and the Central Technical Organisation. Other required skills for this role also include:

 

  • Hold relevant qualifications ideally in engineering or a scientific discipline; Chartered Engineer / Project Professional or equivalent professional qualification
  • Significant track record of success in delivering projects and in heavily regulated and operational environments, preferably in the nuclear industry
  • Experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams working on technical platforms
  • An undeniable working knowledge of relevant health, safety and environment legislation, specifically including the Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations
