About the team

The Operations, Customer and Place-making team ensures Sydney Metro is equipped to deliver integrated, reliable, customer focused and efficient services. We are also managing large scale place-making projects, designing and developing thriving precincts where community members can gather, connect, shop, work and play. The opportunity

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Project Security officer within our recently formed Security team. You will support the Senior Project Security officer, who will be providing oversight, assurance, and technical review of Sydney Metro project partners. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to support the development and delivery of technical security requirements, including physical security, electronic security, protective design, and operational security.

In this role you will work closely with the projects and partner security teams to ensure all critical infrastructure protection and resilience obligations are met.

Work with Sydney Metro project teams to identify, analyze, and manage security risks relating to crime, terrorism, and other malicious acts

Assist project security leads to ensure security-related requirements are captured and recorded in accordance with the project management framework.

Prepare technical security reports, memoranda, and briefing papers

Prepare, under direction, impartial security advice to support decision makers about technical security requirements relating to explosive blast, physical security, electronic security, and operational security to meet Sydney Metro risk tolerance objectives

Work collaboratively with Sydney Metro’s delivery partner security consultants and specialists to provide a consistent security approach across all assets including stations, maintenance facilities, and other such infrastructure.

About you

To be considered for this role, you should have recognised qualifications or experience in the field of Security and / or engineering coupled with knowledge of State and Commonwealth legislation.  You will also have great interpersonal and communication skills and a natural ability to build successful working relationships with key stakeholders.

Ideally you have worked on large infrastructure or building sites to understand the complexities faced daily.  This is not your general physical security function.  An understanding of the complexities of large-scale construction/project security requirements will be reviewed favourably. 

You will understand critical infrastructure resilience including cyber security design, business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis and emergency management.

In addition, you will be a great team player as the Security team strives to partner with all areas of the business and drive a strong Security culture.
