Job Description

About Us

Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do – and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.

We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.

That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW – you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

The Division

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan (ROM) division is focused on understanding the needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

About the team

Community and Place leads engagement with NSW regional communities and stakeholders to champion their needs and achieve integrated community outcomes. Within this branch sits Major Projects North, which encompasses the Central Coast through to the QLD border and West to Gunnedah.

The Opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for Project Officer to join the Major Works team at our Grafton or Newcastle locations, on a TFT basis to February 2023.

The role supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of a wide range of projects and initiatives in support of Branch strategic objectives, organisational strategic plans and workforce management programs.

In this role, you will:

Lead the development of work processes across a range of Branch initiatives to deliver outputs that are on time, within budget and meet quality requirements.

Build and maintain effective working relationships and collaborate with our customers, colleagues, stakeholders, and partners to understand and manage risk and influence sustainable outcomes by the development and implementation of effective stakeholder involvement plans.

Assist in the development of project tools and documents, including proposals, plans, briefs and reports, to support effective planning and delivery.

Identify and manage risk by developing innovative solutions and seeking additional expertise where necessary.

Participate in knowledge sharing activities, including attendance at project workshops, to assist with continued organisational learning to improve practices in project management.

You will drive your own workload and priorities, whilst working across multiple time sensitive projects.

As this position is based within Regional and Outer Metropolitan division, you have an affinity to regional NSW.
