Job Description

About us

Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do – and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.

We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.

That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW – you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

About the Team

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

The Opportunity

The Project Officer for the Local Government team provides support to approximately 30 councils in the region, in the administration of infrastructure  grant programs.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

Support the administration of the annual Regional Road Block Grant agreements to ensure effective, efficient and timely distribution of funding assistance to councils for their Regional Road networks.

Assist in the management of Natural Disaster claims to ensure efficient, timely and appropriate restoration of council-controlled roads after declared natural disaster events.

Provide data entry support and assist in maintaining the Regional Road asset inventories database to ensure changes accurately reflect in funding allocations and reporting frameworks.

Coordinate the associated funding grants for Regional Road REPAIR projects to ensure effective, efficient and timely management and support the administration of progress payments to councils for REPAIR, Block Grant, natural disaster and special grant programs to ensure funding is appropriate for works undertaken by the council and is per relevant Agency guidelines.

Support the coordination and response to customer enquiries, media releases, GIPA requests, political enquiry and briefing papers for matters relating to Regional and Local roads to provide timely and accurate information flow for internal and external stakeholders

Contribute to project development and implementation, including undertaking research, preparing project plans, determining resource requirements, reporting and undertaking project evaluations, and preparing a range of project documents as required, including briefing notes, business cases, reports, presentations, submissions, and responses to requests.

Work collaboratively with external contractors and consultants to ensure that services are provided per agreed quality standards, budget and timeframes.

About you

The role would suit someone from a project support or grants admin background with demonstrated financial administration and system experience. You have experience in generating financial and program reports, including the ability to critically assess and examine the information.

We are looking for an organised and customer focused person who can demonstrate excellent time management and prioritisation skills.  You also enjoy building relationships and interacting with a wide range of people both internal and external to the organisation and enjoy delivering exceptional customer experiences in a constantly changing environment.

The role supports a variety of work in the West Region of NSW –– this encompasses an area ranging from the Blue Mountains in the East to Broken Hill in the West, the QLD border to the North and Riverina to the South and covers 60% of NSW. We have offices at a number of locations in the area and encourage people regionally based in the Central West to apply as we have flexible working arrangements available.
