Job Description

Join us as a Project Manager and be part of one of the most exciting and challenging projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.

Hinkley Point ‘C’ (HPC) is a vital part of the UK’s future energy strategy. As the first of the UK’s next generation of Nuclear power stations, HPC is both of high profile and high complexity.

As a Project Manager you will join our team supporting the management of the Pre-Service Inspection programme. You will join a small multidiscipline team developing, qualifying and deploying NDT Inspections systems for the inspection of high integrity components at the heart of the power station. This work is vital to demonstrate the safety of our plant at start up and through the operational phase.

You will work with an expert team from HPC and contract partners to ensure that the development, qualification and deployment is completed on time but most importantly to the very high-quality requirements we need.

As a Project Manager you will provide leadership to ensure the effective delivery of activities in the programme to time, cost, safety, and quality, while recognising and managing the impacts of the programme on the wider Project. A key aspect of the work will be the development of robust budget estimates for project elements, active management of project risk, project governance and communications.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to be part of building one of the largest, most complex projects in Europe; something vital to the country’s future energy needs.

Pay, benefits and culture…

Alongside a salary of £50,000 - £60,000, we offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle, and the opportunity to earn bonus.

At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself.  We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.  We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application, making adjustments as you need.

We’ll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Defining the detailed scope to be delivered and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme.
  • Working with stakeholders and contract partners to develop a robust project programme ensuring relevant interfaces are clearly identified and managed.
  • Development and management of the project budget including monthly expenditure monitoring and reporting

  • Maintaining project governance arrangements including definition of project review gates, preparation of materials for gate reviews and organisation of gate reviews.
  • Develop and maintain effective communications with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Anticipating, managing, and resolving issues within the contract or package. Identifying risks and facilitating the resolution of all issues raised, developing, and updating the programme budget, and escalating any issues to the Senior Project Manager.
  • Ensuring that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual.
