Job Description

About us

Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do – and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.

We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.

That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW – you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

About the team.

The Commercial Services team within the Infrastructure and Place division consist of over 300 people. This team is responsible for all commercial aspects, from concept to delivery and close out of some of the country's largest infrastructure projects.

The opportunity

Right now, we have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional Project Manager (Business Improvement) to support the integration of Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) and Transport for NSW. This role is pivotal in delivering an integrated, comprehensive and fit for purpose suite of contract documentation (including appropriate processes and frameworks) for use across Transport for NSW in the delivery of infrastructure investment programs. This role is a full time role for a fixed term of 3 years from appointment.

Key activities of the role include:

Reviewing the current suite of infrastructure-related contract documents used across the integrated organisations

Assisting in identifying documents suitable for harmonisation under Project Streamline

Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to drive change management processes, obtain industry feedback on draft revised documentation and support activities for streamlining legacy construction procurement accreditations

Coordinating and managing the development, delivery and implementation of Workstream  activities

Interfacing with the broader Thrive IP program, ensuring alignment of Workstream  activities with other related Thrive IP workstreams

Act as a thought leader, remaining abreast of current and emerging planning issues and trends, including domestic and international best practice, innovative approaches, and opportunities to support project objectives

Ensure plans developed within Commercial Services are translated into meaningful performance targets while providing assurance and regular reporting to senior management

Prepare complex correspondence, briefing notes and reports in relation to specific projects and sub streams, initiatives and issues ensuring that submissions are accurate, timely and have appropriate signoffs.

About you

You are a passionate, well-organised project manager who possesses excellent communication skills. An agile thinker, you will understand how to leverage your network to remove roadblocks to keep this critical project on track. You will have some exposure to government, ideally in a transport or infrastructure capacity and be well versed in working in complex matrix-based organisations. Due to the sensitivity of the information you will be privy to, discretion is a key attribute of yours.
