Project Management Practice Lead

Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) are now seeking applications for the position of Project Management Practice Lead.

This is a full-time, permanent role sitting within the Council’s Property and Infrastructure team.

The Project Management Practice Lead acts in a trusted advisor’ capacity, supporting the development and implementation of programme and project management systems and processes across QLDC.

The Project Management Practice Lead will work with internal and external Project Managers engaged by QLDC to embed QLDC’s Portfolio, Programme and Project processes and systems, enabling QLDC to deliver upon its strategic objectives through effective and efficient portfolio, programme and project management (3PM).

The role provides short to medium term project management support and guidance for both the delivery of Capital Infrastructure Projects delivered by the PMO Delivery Team (e.

g. 3 Waters and Transportation projects) and other projects delivered on behalf of other departments and directorates. As a trusted advisor, the Project Management Practice Lead will work with teams to help diagnose system, process and people capability gaps and challenges, and assists teams implement and embed interventions.

The role will work with the PMO Manager, to develop processes and systems that set the benchmark for 3PM best practice, supporting the Council’s capital expenditure portfolio and associated programmes and projects.

The successful candidate will hold :

  • Relevant Tertiary Degree qualification (minimum of General Bachelor’s degree level)
  • Recognised Project Management qualification
  • Knowledge and experience with the application of portfolio, programme and project management methodologies
  • 7-8 years’ minimum relevant experience required
  • 10+ years’ minimum relevant experience desirable
  • Recognised Project Management Expertise
  • Experience in Project Management Training / Developing Portfolio, Programme, Project Management Capability
  • Practical experience risk identification, management and mitigation
  • Excellent people and communication skills, and a strong customer ethos
