About this role
Reporting to the Regional Programme Manager, the role holder is responsible for a variety of activities including but not exclusive to, executing technical solutions for pan-OR Chairman, CEO level escalations and major projects, applying commercial and financial rigour. This role puts customers at the forefront – ensuring quick, cost effective and technically proficient solutions are executed by the Chief Engineer team for our customers and stakeholders. Keeping customers up to date and visiting site to find technical engineering solutions.
You'll have the following responsibilities
Leading and managing key aspects of technology delivery in support of key Openreach products including Fibre based products.
Managing multiple product issues at any one time to deliver unique technical solutions and offer regional coverage to share expertise and knowledge within Openreach.
Negotiating with national establishments to deliver timely project-based technological solutions e.g. National Trust, landowners, state owners, environmental agencies etc.to gain permits for CE work.
Managing frequently allocated technically complex workload on an ad hoc basis from Openreach and pan BT Senior Leadership teams.
Managing small matrix teams across Openreach, BT, suppliers and customer teams to deliver successful outcomes as agreed within the Chief Engineers team.
Autonomy to design, propose and build bespoke technical solutions leading to the resolution of complex field network issues e.g. field engineering customer funded projects / design and provide the network from scratch to deliver service to customers, ensuring top class service at the most viable cost.
You'll have the following skills & experience
Strong Project Management capabilities and understanding of delivery to time, cost & quality constraints.
Competent with MS Office i.e. excel, powerpoint, etc
An experienced project manager, able to co-ordinate across a number of simultaneous projects
Extremely high influencing skills, experienced at working with senior managers, with the ability to spot problems before they arise and take steps to treat or avoid.
Technically competent in understanding networks - copper, fibre and mobile and the connectivity options.
Previous experience of managing internal and external stakeholders and projects whilst working to tight deadlines.
Appreciation of SLAs and impact of not achieving these across engineering operations.
Team management skills, including development of their technical understanding within the unit.
Detailed knowledge of fibre technologies and fibre planning.
Detailed knowledge of civils avoidance technologies and the Single Fibre Network.
