The Minister of Health has committed to transforming New Zealand's Public Health system. The changes will reduce fragmentation, strengthen leadership and accountability. In particular, the changes aim to improve equity of access and outcomes for all New Zealanders. The Partnership between Health New Zealand and Maori Health Authority in ensuring Te Tiriti obligations to improve MÄori health are embodied in the new entities. The formation of Health New Zealand and the Maori Health Authority is a key component of the transformation of New Zealand's Public Health system. The entities will be formed at the passing of legislation expected to be in place from 1st July 2022.
This position will transfer along with the broader work programme from the Ministry of Health to interim Health New Zealand on 1 June 2022 as part of the Health and Disability Sector Reforms. Further details will be provided to shortlisted candidates at interview.

The focus of this programme is to support the growth and development of both existing and new workforces to deliver on the transformed approach to mental wellbeing called for in the Government's response to He Ara Oranga and the associated investment in new services.
