About the team

Major Works is the major brownfield construction hub at Sydney Trains. Providing Engineering and Maintenance work across the Sydney Trains Network. There are over 1000 staff in the directorate which operate in a fast paced multi-disciplinary project environment.

The opportunity 

Right now, three (3) exciting Program Manager opportunities have become available to lead and deliver critical rail infrastructure projects in our Major Works Team. Reporting to the Manager of Program, the Program Manager will deliver a variety of brownfield solutions, some of which are complex in nature. Manage programs of works that improve safety reliability and support the development and replacement of Rail network Assets. We have opportunities in both our Electrical and our Signalling & Control Systems business units within the Major Works division which is part of the Engineering and Maintenance Branch of Sydney Trains.

As Program Manager you will be responsible in leading single and multi-discipline project teams through design, development, construction, integration and commissioning of assets into service, with a cross business and stakeholder focus to ensure the network is fit for purpose and provides our customers a safe and reliable journey.

About you

The right person for the role will have experience working with multi-discipline teams and managing programs of work within a complex and diverse organisation.

You are tertiary qualified in Engineering / Project Management and/or have equivalent experience in delivering large complex projects. You have a leadership ethos that ensures efficient project delivery on-time and within budgetary constraints.

We are expecting a certain level of seniority as there will be high profile projects involved as part of the portfolio. You’ll put your impeccable communication and planning skills to work in order to develop great relationships and influence and negotiate the best project outcomes. You find working through tough problems with others in order to find workable solutions satisfying, and you can be depended on to deliver.
