Woodvale Secondary College (WSC) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Careers and Vocational Education and Training (VET) Coordinator.
The Careers and VET Coordinator will provide educational leadership in the delivery and development of VET and work placement programs within the College and wider community. The successful applicant will lead a highly committed and dedicated team supporting students in their senior schooling journey and subsequent post school transition to employment, training, or further education. They will have oversight of student records and effective management of school information systems within the area.
Along with leading a small team comprising Business, IT and Careers teachers, they will also be responsible for leading the Careers program across Years 7-12. There is a teaching load.
Strong organisational skills and extensive knowledge of career pathways, WACE requirements; in particular VET pathways and current industry requirements is vital for this role. An understanding of the local community context is an advantage. The successful applicant will be responsible oversight of VET and Endorsed course enrolments, resulting, compliance and meeting of deadlines with SCSA, RTOs and school wide processes. In addition, the successful applicant will provide leadership and support the performance of teachers in relation to VET programs.
The ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a whole school setting and working as part of an executive and senior leadership team, are essential requirements of the role. The successful applicant will use effective change management strategies to lead the College community to continually reflect on practices and data, and to develop opportunities for improvement and engagement. They will have exemplary interpersonal skills and sound knowledge of how to support the College’s Independent Public-School structure.

Woodvale SC is located some 20 kilometres north of the city of Perth and has approximately 1400 students from Years 7 to 12. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment.This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia.
obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
