The position:
This is a newly established role and you will be the first to make your mark in this position within our business.
Reporting directly to the general manager, this role is focused on developing and driving the production team towards our most critical strategic pillar – operational excellence. This role will work closely alongside our production & planning manager to ensure that our supply will meet demand.

You will be responsible for (but not limited to):
Production & Manufacturing Management
- Execution of production plan on the Floor. Make recommendations and revisions required as per discussion with Team to maximise efficiency.
- Ensuring correct batches loaded into the line and are recorded correctly.
- Completion of Production Orders into D365 and ensuring data input is correct. Addressing and correcting any issues that arise.
- Assign manpower based on required skills and review of manpower performance. Provide feedback and analysis report on manpower planning for continuous improvement.
- Leading daily toolbox meetings, and weekly production all hands meetings.
- Process and line management of the production team.
- Production data analysis and monthly reporting to senior management on production performance.
People Management
- Overall management of the production assistants for their relevant shift team. Takes disciplinary action for non-compliance as required.
- Manage agreed hours and overtime for production assistants.
- Cross utilization and competency development of people. Implementing development and training plans for production assistants. Preparation of team multi skilling for transfer of knowledge
- Attendance management for payroll. Approving time sheets and managing leave requests. Reporting scheduled leave to Production & Planning Manager.
- Organising and implementing team building activities and other exercises to improve engagement of the production team.
Production Processing, Quality Control & Dispatch
- Quality Management - right product, right batches, within the acceptable standards.
- First output review, in-line control, and finished product review. Followed by regular review of quality control results with team.
- Implementation and continual improvement of tasks assigned by Production & Planning Manager.
- Review actual output vs physical results and report to management. Share feedback with production team.
- Completion of Production Orders and Transfer Orders into ERP system.
- Picking and Preparation of Local Orders, Export orders and shipments. Photographing export shipments prior to dispatch. Booking and scheduling of pick-up with couriers and forwarders.
- Maintenance of batch control throughout production.
Planning of Materials & Inventory Control Management
- Ensuring enough stock in site of materials required for production in the 2 weeks period.
- Request Transfers as required on specified date of requirement.
- Receipting and issuance of stock to ensure right batches/quantity of material movement.
- Manage wastage and material utilization - provide analysis and report on findings with suggested improvements.
- Incoming stock inspection- right product/quality and quantity.
- Inventory management back-up for Production & Planning Manager. Creates reports and analysis inventory levels on site and in all warehouses.
- Supports Production & Planning Manager with stock take and stock checks as required.
Machinery & Equipment Maintenance
- Ensure Machinery and Equipment required for operation in good working condition and safe for our people to use.
- Review, discuss with team to look for improvements on Machinery Output/Process Flow.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Daily Checks, Implementation of Health and Safety Standards.
- Ensuring correct PPE in use and enough stock on the floor.
- First aider and fire warden on specified shift.
- Monitoring and Control of D/G materials on site as per approved limit.
- Keeping areas designation clear of any materials
- Handling of Spill and any incident on Production Area.
Skills Required:
- At least 5+ years of experience in a production/ manufacturing environment.
- Experience in people leadership with a strong engagement track record.
- Ability to manage and motivate production team.
- Proficient in production analysis and developing performance reports.
- Experience with using ERP systems to input data, data analysis and produce meaningful reports.
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office365 software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Organised, detail oriented and able to follow through with production plans.
- Excellent communication (verbal, written, listening and interpersonal) skills.
- Presentation and reporting skills.
- Excellent self-management skills, including working effectively without direct supervision, managing and organising workloads in sometimes stressful situations.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences and build and maintain rapport with others.
- Exceptional organisation and time management skills, with a high attention to detail and quality control.
