The team of Production Electricians at BBC Wales work across a variety of television programmes in studios, outside broadcasts, locations, events and drama. The function of this role is to provide television production lighting services and maintain electrical services underpinned by the relevant electrical qualifications and competence.
The production Electrician will provide technical production lighting services. You will rig, operate and de-rig production lighting and associated equipment, including generators, where competent, and practical and effects lighting. You will also undertake planning of production-related electrical and lighting equipment, achieving the ambitions of programmes while considering the constraints of the working environment, time, resources and team competence.
You will have a Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services or similar and the relevant level 3 technical certificate e.g. City & Guilds 2360 Electrical installation theory and practice Part 2. You must also have the ability to carry out electrical installation work in accordance with the current IET Wiring regulations BS7671 17th Edition. You will have the ability to complete physically demanding tasks, including manual handling and rigging, working at height and driving equipment vehicles with a valid driving license.
You will need to be flexible as the work closely follows production requirements and will include working weekends and some travel. You will be able to work with tight production deadlines and demonstrate high levels of motivation.
