Newsnight, one of the pillars of the UK’s news landscape is looking to appoint a Production Coordinator to join the flagship programme’s Production Management team.
Coming at the end of a crowded news schedule, Newsnight aims to tackle the big stories of the day in greater depth than other outlets, to break its own stories with original reporting and news-making interviews, and to provide the most intelligent and original take on the news. We broadcast live 5 days a week from our studio in New Broadcasting House, London. This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of the live production team providing logistical and administrative support on a busy daily programme. You’ll need to be a problem solver, calm when working under pressure as well as being a good team player with a can do attitude.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the main focus of this role will be the daily broadcast of Newsnight. Tasks will include organising shoots, the deployment of crews and co-ordination of all technical and operational logistics for live and pre-recorded elements. Occasional work on location may be a requirement.
You’ll need to balance creative aspirations with financial and resource constraints as well as work in partnership with editorial colleagues to deliver outstanding, distinctive content.
The PC will be expected to build and maintain a wide range of internal contacts from across the BBC with e.g. colleagues in Health and Safety/High Risk, Sat desk and MCR as well as across the wider news department.
General hours of work are Monday to Friday from 1530-2330.
