Being 1 of 3 businesses owned by Nova Eye Medical the Molteno, Dunedin production facility designs, manufactures and sells surgical products for treating glaucoma. This is an opportunity to join an expanding team in Dunedin, NZ which will support and grow the Nova Eye group globally.

The Role:

Reporting into the General Manager, the successful candidate will be a hands-on person skilled in assembly and production along with mechanical and process engineering skills.

You will work within our small and passionate team in Dunedin, with a view on learning all facets of the production and assembly side of the business. Your time will be divided between injection molding, assembly, packaging and sterilization of medical devices, whilst assisting with bringing new products into production. This is a full-time permanent position.

Responsibilities:

• Clean, assemble, test and pack medical devices in a controlled clean room environment
• Interact with the Nova Eye engineering team, and assist with the transfer of new technologies and products into manufacturing
• Receive and inspect raw materials for production
• Autoclave sterilization of medical devices
• Identify non-conforming parts and assist with root cause investigation
• Follow instructions and procedures for assembly / testing and maintain required records according to GDP requirements of the QMS
• Provide input and advice on processes and tooling for manufacture of products

Qualifications and Experience:

The Production Assembly Technician will be an important member of the cross-border team who will all be working very hands on. While the below requirements are desired, a good attitude, high energy and motivation to learn and develop your skills long-term is essential.

• 5+ years of experience in an assembly or technical role within a production environment (medical device experience highly desirable)
• Technical qualifications preferred
• Experience working within a quality system
• Experience working with ISO requirements, GMP guidelines, FDA regulations and medical device design control desirable
• Able to work well in a team as well as individually
• Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills and proficiency in MS Office applications
