Role Purpose:

Collins Aerospace Systems, part of Raytheon Technologies, is on the lookout for an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to join our team based in Wolverhampton. The Principal Systems Engineer has extensive practical experience gained from working as a Senior Systems Engineer. They have a strong understanding of System Architecture for given product families, and the requirements associated with those product families. They are creative and take responsibility for innovative solutions for System Design and Systems Engineering processes. They provide leadership of the Systems Engineering IPT on projects. The Principal Systems Engineer can deliver projects autonomously, with input from the Chief Systems Engineer as required. The Principal Systems Engineer is capable of coaching others in the application of Systems Engineering and contributing to the development of Systems Engineering standard work and best practice. Principal Systems engineers perform customer-facing roles, leading technical discussions, and negotiations. They ensure the Systems Engineering IPT collaborates regularly and effectively with each other.

Key Responsibilities

Leading the Systems Engineering IPT on projects to produce Systems Engineering project deliverables. These deliverables may include, but are not limited to:

• SAE ARP4754A Development Plans

• Requirements Architecture Setup

• Stakeholder Requirement Capture

• Development of a project's requirement dataset

• Technical Specifications

• Requirement Validation Matrices/Summaries

• Requirement Traceability Matrices/Summaries

• Requirement Verification Matrices/Summaries

• Customer Requirement Compliance Analysis

• System Design Definition Documents

• Interface Control Documents

• Trade Studies

• System Sizing Case Identification Document

• Ratification/Review of Supplier Design Equipment systems engineering owned deliverables

• Producing Requirements Management Metrics

Experience and Skills

• The Principal Systems Engineer ensures the definition and documentation of robust and innovative System Architectures/Designs

• The Principal Systems Engineer contributes to the development of Systems Engineering standard work and best practice

• The Principal Systems Engineer ensures competitive, innovative, and accurate responses to Customer RFP, RFI, FRQ

• Close collaboration with other engineering disciplines and support functions

• Ensuring complete development of a project's requirement dataset from Stakeholder through to component in accordance with SAE ARP4754A

• Leading customer and supplier technical discussions and negotiations

• Sharing expertise and insight with other Systems Engineers by coaching, mentoring, and training others

• Motivating staff and fostering collaboration within the IPT(s)
