The Procurement Division sits within Te Puna Rangatōpū and is part of the wider procurement community that works across the Ministry of Education and the Education Sector. There are several procurement teams within the Procurement Division supporting different parts of the Ministry's operations.

 

About the role

The following role is being recruited for within the Education Services procurement team:

  • Principal Procurement Specialist (fixed term or contractor position, up to 18 months)

The Education Services procurement team focuses on the procurement of goods and services that develop and support the national curriculum and help schools to deliver the national curriculum and qualifications.

 

The Principal Procurement Specialist is a self-starting proactive role that will provide specialist procurement insight, mentoring and support to other procurement specialists and internal stakeholders, including working collaboratively to perform needs analysis, develop sourcing strategies, establish procurement plans and manage high quality procurement processes that deliver tangible value to the Ministry. To be effective in this role, you will be an experienced procurement professional who understands the importance of developing effective internal and external relationships with key stakeholders.

You will also have:

  • 5+ years procurement experience with a strong understanding and experience of each stage of the procurement process;
  • a great attitude and experience in seeking improvement;
  • Intermediate (or better) level skills with the MS Office suite;
  • experience with, or an understanding of, public sector procurement
  • experience working with Māori and/or Pasifika organisations; and
  • eligible or working towards Associate Member (Level 4) of CIPS and/or a relevant tertiary qualification.

 

The salary range for the fixed term is role is $110,923 - $135,573.
