In Azure Compute, we are part of an incredibly dynamic, fast moving, and strategic business.  As an increasing number of customers and partners make their switch to the cloud over the next few years it’s critical that we deliver the necessary innovation to be the cloud platform of choice, while continuing to lower our operating costs. Inflection points of this magnitude come along very infrequently.  As part of Azure, the compute team designs and builds software infrastructure that powers hundreds of thousands of servers in datacenters around the globe, providing core infrastructure software services for internal and external cloud services.  Are you excited about working and dealing with the challenges of planetary-scale infrastructure? The Azure Compute team is looking for a highly motivated and talented leader to identify and drive improvements in in the platform that improve our overall cost profile without impacting customer experience.  This team plays an integral part in managing Compute margins in the hyper scale public cloud. The right candidate would be comfortable working in an agile environment, balancing business needs and communications in designing the right experience to our customers.  This person would work closely with an exceptional software development team, and other internal and external partners in delivering features that drive efficiencies within Azure.  The position requires strong executive communication skills, passion for customer experience and data-driven analysis to inform decisions.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with engineers, architects, and business leaders and make decisions that help optimize costs for Azure
• Leverage market and business insights to direct investments to build the core Azure Compute business.
• Research industry trends and identify new technology investment areas designed to improve costs
• Identify and drive key initiatives that optimize costs across the compute platform

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of software industry experience
• 5+ years of experience as a program or product manager
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field, OR equivalent industry experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced technical degree or MBA is a plus
• Both technically adept and business savvy enough to interface with all levels and disciplines within the organization, from engineers to executives
• Ability to be strategic, but also drive tactics and execution as needed
• Comfortable with understanding business models that help drive key decisions
• Exceptional collaboration and written and verbal communication skills
