About the team
The Safety, Environment and Regulation (SER) division leads policy, strategy, standards, advice and support across safety, environment, sustainability, asset management and regulatory outcomes for customers, community and our people (including contractors). SER provides 'centres of excellence' with a critical mass of expertise to support line accountability, facilitate consistency and provide assurance across the transport. It also delivers a range of regulatory programs.
The Asset Management centre of excellence leads and enables transport service outcomes for customers and communities through effective whole of life asset management to ensure the safe, effective and efficient movement of people and goods across our network.
The opportunity
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Principal Engineer Telecommunications Systems. Based in Macquarie Park this is a 12-month fixed term role with the possibility to extend.
Reporting to the Director Telecom Engineering, you will lead and manage change to engineering standards relating to telecommunication systems assets and cyber security for operational technology across the TfNSW cluster, including specialist technical advice and technical application including: the development of standards documentation; advising on research, development activities, technical risk, asset management practices and assurance processes relating to assets; undertake technical asset integrity, condition and resilience audits and assessments; provide asset management advice to client divisions and undertake necessary investigations; review, assess and report on network performance; contribute towards the technical capability assessment and audit of Authorised Engineering Organisations (AEOs) and development of effective and timely resolutions to issues.
About you
Thorough knowledge or awareness of relevant codes of practice, standards, regulatory legislation relating to the operations, design, and maintenance of telecommunication systems.
Thorough understanding of current and emerging technologies relevant to design and/or maintenance of telecommunication systems.
Broad knowledge or awareness of relevant cyber security practices and the evolving threat landscape.
Demonstrated capability in delivering technical advice and directions, performing advanced investigations and analyses, and delivering design and/or investigation projects in a technology-driven environment.
Demonstrated experience in developing professional technical documents, specifications, guidelines and government publications to a quality standard.
Proven experience in applying and using best practice multi-media communication tools, software and platforms to disseminate information to a diverse audience across a large complex organisation.
Familiarity with cyber security standards for industrial automation (aka operational technology)
Capacity to successfully juggle multiple deliverables and complex issues, in a busy and evolving delivery environment
You will understand the challenges and opportunities of working within a matrix-based organisation, and of collaborating with multiple deployed teams
You will be an inclusive and persuasive communicator
Tertiary qualifications (degree) in Engineering and the management of telecommunication assets in a large and complex organisation.
