This Principal UX Researcher role will have you working across vertical businesses in Microsoft, partnering with engineering, data science, user research, and program management. Experience laying the groundwork for product analytics and telemetry, identifying key behavioral research questions to inform strategy, and co-authoring a scalable + repeatable approach to accelerate Microsoft’s own internal digital transformation on employee tools will be at the heart of this role.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects and deliver a strategic research plan/priorities for broad business areas
• Partner with other user researchers and leaders on the Studio Research Team to establish systems and practices for analyzing large enterprise data sets (on behavior and attitudes) to establish a process for tracking and measuring in-product sentiment feedback
• Help to foster a diverse and inclusive team environment that empowers our team members to do their best work
• Bring a product making mindset to your work, and influence end-to-end user experience thought leadership

Qualifications

• 7+ years' experience in user experience research, design research, product research or equivalent
• 4+ years' experience directly working with quantitative data
• Proficiency in SPSS, R, Python, or similar modeling language
• In-depth understanding of industry-standard research methods including ethnographic methods (e.g., in-depth interview, group interviews), evaluative methods (e.g., concept testing, in-lab/remote usability testing, tree testing, etc.
• A Master’s degree in HCI, ethnography, cognitive or experimental psychology, sociology, business planning OR a BA/BS in one of the above fields with significant academic or industry experience
• Proven track record of collaborating across many disciplines – data science, marketing, design, program management, and engineering – to influence product strategy and roadmap
