Job Description

At Kāinga Ora, ours is the important responsibility of transforming New Zealand's housing choices, outcomes and the entire housing sector by creating homes and communities that allow New Zealanders to thrive.

What is exciting about working for Kāinga Ora is getting the chance to make a real and positive impact on New Zealanders' lives. With skills, planning and purposeful action, our people are creating the homes and neighbourhoods that will build the future of Aotearoa.

We are passionate about transforming New Zealand for the better. That includes being a trusted partner for Māori and iwi, protecting and enabling their rights, interests and aspirations under the guidance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role

We're looking to hire a Principal Advisor Process Optimisation to manage a large, highly ambiguous and complex programme of optimisation work in our Infrastructure Management Framework (IMF).

The IMF work programme is complex, as it requires support and input from a range of centres of excellence across Kāinga Ora and government agencies, and delivers IMF products to a range of business units and user groups.

This isn't a job for the faint hearted! You'll need to be an expert in operational management - able to identify opportunities for improvement, provide high quality advice and support to leaders, and manage improvement projects. A strong relationship builder, you'll be someone who isn't afraid to push boundaries at times to get the best outcome. You'll know you've been successful in the role when processes are simplified, collaboration improved, and we're getting things right first time.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring

  • Tertiary qualification in one or more relevant fields together with significant project management, process optimisation and change management experience
  • Significant proven experience managing large and complex programmes of work in large organisations using different methodologies and related tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaisen, Adkar, Agile, Prince2.
  • Experience in influencing people and leading the successful delivery of optimisation programmes including success in challenging the 'status quo' and managing typical 'risk and reward' conflicts
  • Ability to persuade key internal stakeholders through applying expert knowledge and rational options / recommendations and solutions
  • Experience in prioritising demands, meeting deadlines and delivering desired results by taking ownership and using effective self and time management approaches
  • Highly developed interpersonal relationship and communication skills at all levels within an organisation and able to instil trust in others
