Position Overview

The Postdoctoral Fellow will join the Geophysics Area within the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES).?Based at the Australian National University’s charming Acton campus in Canberra, RSES is part of the ANU College of Science. Staff and students within the College conduct research and deliver research-led education programs that encompasses the entire breadth of the sciences, supported by extensive international networks and by world-class facilities.? The College has a strong tradition of research excellence that has fostered distinguished Nobel Laureates and Kyoto Prize winners and that trains scientific leaders in disciplines in which the ANU is consistently ranked in the top twenty in the world.? 

In this role you will be responsible for the deployment, acquisition, analysis and interpretation of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) datasets and for integration of these into existing and concurrent passive seismic deployments.? The goal is to expand the capability of our strong field-based seismic imaging research through new DAS technologies and methodologies in order to improve imaging resolution, and therefore understanding of the Earth’s structure and evolution.
