Job Description

We’re looking for a Portfolio Manager to join the Corporate Procurement team of a public sector organisation who are dedicated to the wellbeing of Kiwi’s around the country.

As a Portfolio Manager you will work across the organisation, with a focus on supplier management, supporting the business to deal with a range of different supplier and commercial related needs. You will be accountable for performance of the Suppliers in the Portfolio that you are responsible for and will work to understand the business needs and deliver effective performance and relationship management solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, guiding and assisting business units to maximise best value from supplier spend, procurement activity, and expenditure.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for the portfolio across the business and acting as an escalation point for ongoing operational issues.
  • Establishing and leading cross-functional project teams to manage the development and implementation of the supplier management strategy which supports the organisation’s needs.
  • Developing strong relationships with the portfolio’s stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of the supplier/provider strategy and identify potential opportunities, risks and challenges.
  • Establishing strong relationships with suppliers to harness their expertise and resource to identify and deliver additional value.

You will bring to this role:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant commercial or procurement discipline, with relevant work experience at a senior level.
  • Experience in developing and implementing supplier management and portfolio management strategies in order to meet key performance requirements.
  • Experience in managing end-to-end procurement and supplier management processes within a commercial environment
  • The ability to work strategically and influence outcomes across organizations and industry sectors.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, networking and stakeholder management skills, including excellent communication skills with the ability to present to a broad range of stakeholders.
